So Rare beauty is a brand that I will be talking about a lot because I simply am obsessed. I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about a beauty brand. Today though I will be talking about their mascara. If you know me, then you know that mascara is my thing. I was really excited when they came out with mascara.
Let’s start with the easy part, the packaging. I love the path that she has chosen with the packaging. It’s so simple, and just so pretty. There is nothing special about the mascara packaging, it’s simply just pretty.
The Brush
The brush is what I would call medium-sized. It has a slight curve to it towards the middle of the brush. They say this is so you have short brushes, to add volume and the longer brushes are for building length. I do want to say that I think this works really well because it does add volume and length, keeping in mind that Volumizing is in the name of the product.
I do find that I often hit my eyelids while applying mascara. Now, does that maybe have to do something with my skills? Probably. But I just want to mention it, because this mascara is not easy to get off. Now normally when I do this, I let the mascara dry, and then I can remove it, with no problems. I can’t do that with this one. I have to let it sit for a few seconds and then remove it. It’s like if I let it dry for too long, I just can’t remove it without ruining my eyeshadow. Just keep that in mind.
How does it apply?
I think it applies really well. It’s easy to build, and I don’t feel like my eyelashes stick together, which I love. I think it gives really pretty lashes and I don’t really have anything to complain about when it comes to the way that it applies. The brush really grabs every lash.
How does it wear throughout the day?
The problem I always have with mascara is that mascaras don’t like me back. I love them, I spend money on them, and they simply just hate me. I don’t know what I have done wrong, but I must have done something. Anyway, mascara 9 out of 10 smudges on me. When it’s not waterproof then it smudges under my eyes when it is waterproof then it’s over my eyes/under eyebrows. So honestly it is just hard to navigate. Now I don’t find that this smudges on me, but I also don’t find that it stays completely where it’s supposed to.
You might be a bit confused by that and I get it. But it’s like it stays put, but once in a while just a little bit of smudging happens. Remember that I haven’t tried this in summer weather, but only winter, so that might also play in. But I have used this as my main mascara for the last few months, and I do really like it. If a specific mascara becomes my main mascara, then it means that it works. I like it so far, but I will have to test it out in warmer weather as well.
